  • Does Lyford Cay Foundations sponsor specific events and/or individuals?
    • Unfortunately, Lyford Cay Foundations does not sponsor specific events or individuals, including sponsorship for medical expenses. Our funding is only accessible through our sponsored progammes which are listed on this website.

  • HOW CAN MY CHILD APPLY TO FOCUS?
    • Your child must be in grade four in one of six Western New Providence public primary schools. This includes T. G. Glover Primary, Woodcock Primary, Gambier Primary, Albury Sayle Primary, Eva Hilton Primary and Stephen Dillard Primary. All students wishing to apply must attend an application session with a parent or guardian.
  • WHO COMPLETES THE FOCUS APPLICATION FORM?
    • Both the child and the parent/guardian must complete FOCUS application forms.
  • WHAT IF MY CHILD DOES NOT ATTEND A NORTHWEST NEW PROVIDENCE PRIMARY SCHOOL?
    • Unfortunately, there are only six schools from which we accept applications for FOCUS students.
  • WHAT GRADE DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO BE IN TO APPLY TO FOCUS?
    • Your child must be in grade four to apply to FOCUS.
  • WHEN ARE APPLICATION SESSIONS HELD?
    • Application sessions are typically held in February.
  • WHAT IF I MISS ATTENDING THE APPLICATION SESSION IN ONE OF THE SCHOOLS?
    • There will be multiple application sessions and you are free to attend any application session at any of the locations we have one.  If you are unable to to attend a session at the specified times please contact the FOCUS office.
  • HOW DO I WORK AT FOCUS?
    • Apply! Each year in February, FOCUS intern applications are made available online for college students to apply for the open positions. There are several steps in the hiring process which includes completion of the online application, submission of a resume and transcripts and an interview. If selected, you will be asked to submit additional documents.
  • HOW DO I VOLUNTEER AT FOCUS?
    • Complete the online volunteer form by clicking here or contact the FOCUS office.

  • DO YOU OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ONLINE STUDY?
    • Currently, Lyford Cay Foundations does not offer financial assistance for individuals taking classes via online platforms. You have to be physically studying abroad in order to qualify for one of our awards.
  • WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF GETTING A SCHOLARSHIP?
    • The application pool changes from year to year, however, every year it is a competitive process. We have found that successful applicants represent about 15% of the total applicants.
  • I APPLIED LAST YEAR AND WAS NOT SELECTED, CAN I APPLY AGAIN?
    • Yes! You are welcome to apply as many times as you are eligible.
  • WHERE DO I GO TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP?
    • Our application process is completely electronic. You will need to go here, create an account and follow the prompts to complete the application. We do not accept hard copies or applications mailed to the institution.
  • I am experiencing technical problems with my application. How can I resolve it?
    • Whether it is a technical problem or a question or concern you may have with the application, we are always ready to help. Send us an email at info@lyfordcayfoundations.org and specify your problem or concern.   • Community Grants
  • HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU GIVE?
    • On average our grants range in value from $2,500 to $10,000. All eligible grant applications are considered. The full amount requested is not always approved for the grant award, but may be approved at a partial level.
  • CAN I APPLY ANYTIME?
    • Yes! People or organizations can apply at any time for a Community Grant. We do, however, review and make decisions on Community Grant applications 3 times per year: April, June and November. Successful applicants will be notified via email at the end of these months.
  • WHERE CAN I FIND AN APPLICATION?
    • Our application process is completely web-based. Community Grant applicants can apply at any time by clicking here. Create an account and follow the prompts to complete the application.
  • I AM NOT LEGALLY REGISTERED AS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, CAN I STILL APPLY FOR A COMMUNITY GRANT?
    • Yes! You are still welcome to apply. However, you must apply under the organization’s name in order to qualify. Click here to begin the Community Grants application process.
